Many first-timers are often asking how to prepare for acupuncture. They are nervous and it all seems so daunting. Even season veterans such as myself are still trying to search for that special magic something that helps us get the most out of acupuncture treatment!
In my opinion, nutrition helps people prepare for acupuncture sessions the best
Using my first-hand experience, I would say that good rest and nutrition have the most beneficial impact on an acupuncture session.
Anyone thinking about how to prepare for Acupuncture sessions as best they can stop right there.
Go and Grab a multivitamin, or B Complex, take these for a solid week before you go and visit your acupuncturist. If you are anything like me you will by far get the most out of your acupuncture session compared to any TCM treatment session before!
Also, you will get the most out of life too. Coffee will start to knock you for 6 again! If you are depleted in B Vitamins as I was, like many of us have been since having a Covid infection or suffering Long Covid, you will for sure notice a boost in your body, brain, and life. Start slowly though, I recommend reading up on replenishing and supplementing your body with B Vitamins after a long while. It can be quite dramatic and even lethal!
You can buy the acupuncture needles I use here – They are great for beginners, making acupuncture as safe as possible!
How to get the most out of an Acupuncture session?
- Eat Well – Have decent-sized meals in the days leading up to your session, and go easy on the alcohol and Coffee.
- Take Supplements – As I have been saying, get onto a Multi-Vitamin and some B Vitamin Complex mixtures to restore what is needed in your body. Your following acupuncture treatment will be quite an experience!
- 3. Rest Well! Make sure you are well-rested leading up to the session. However, some sessions I’ve had where I was near sleep-deprived have been quite fulfilling themselves. Every session is different.
- Discuss with your acupuncturist any concerns or things about the session, especially if you are a first-timer, that make you nervous or unsure. The acupuncturist wants you to have the best acupuncture experience possible too!
- Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes. This helps the acupuncturist get to the specific and intended acupuncture points the best. You want to prepare for Acupuncture sessions as best you can.
- Try and book an early morning session – This is when your body’s acupuncture response is most powerful and effective!
- Drink plenty of water. Some nervous Nelly’s have been known to faint after an acupuncture session.
- Book with an experienced acupuncturist! Go and find the most Chinese-looking place you can find in town – Have a chat with the old Goong Goong. The better the acupuncturist, the better the treatment I’ve found! A lot more powerful and stimulating sessions than when I do it on myself at home.
And that’s my tips on how to prepare for acupuncture. After your session, go and get a bite to eat, take it easy, and drink some water. These are just some of the many things you can expect to experience and expect after an acupuncture session.
